Measurement of ethylene oxide residue in gelatin hollow capsules using headspace-gas chromatography method

This experiment refers to the standards for gelatin hollow capsules in the 2010 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, pages 1204-1205. A headspace sampler combined with a gas chromatograph was used to determine the residual ethylene oxide in gelatin hollow capsules. The detection limit reached 0.2 µg/mL. The peak area of ethylene oxide in the commercially available gelatin hollow capsules used in this experiment was greater than 0.0001% of the main peak area of the reference solution, which does not meet the required standard.
